Privacy Policy
This website has no forms, uses no analytics tools and sets no cookies of its own. What follows explains the little data that exists all the same, and what you can do about it. This is a translation of the Portuguese policy; should the two differ, the Portuguese version prevails.

1. Who processes your data
The data controller is Oryza Guest House & Suites, an Alojamento Local (licensed short-stay accommodation) with registration no. 81419/AL, at Estrada Principal de Bencanta, Quinta de Magarrufe, 3045-382 Coimbra, Portugal.
For any question about this policy or about your data, write to oryzaguesthouse@gmail.com or call +351 937 294 320.
2. What data we collect on this website
Browsing oryzaguesthouse.com does not require you to give us any data at all. There are no forms, no members' area and no newsletter sign-up, and we do not use traffic analysis tools.
We receive data only when you contact us — by email, telephone or WhatsApp, using the contact details published on the website. In that case we keep whatever you choose to tell us: usually your name, your contact details, the dates you have in mind and anything else you wish to add about your stay.
The booking itself does not take place on this website: the ‘Book now’ button takes you to the platform of our booking engine, which is a separate entity and processes your data under its own privacy policy. See point 6.
3. What we use that data for
- To reply to you and answer your questions.
- To prepare, confirm and follow up a booking and a stay.
- To meet the legal obligations that apply to an Alojamento Local, such as registering guests with the competent authorities and tax and invoicing obligations.
We do not use your contact details to send advertising, and we do not sell or pass them to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. On what basis
We process your data because it is necessary to reply to your request and to perform the accommodation contract (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR), because the law requires it of us for guest registration, invoicing and the keeping of records (point (c)), and, where none of the above applies, on the basis of our legitimate interest in replying to those who contact us (point (f)).
5. For how long we keep it
Messages from people who contact us but do not end up staying with us are deleted once they are no longer needed to reply. Data linked to a stay is kept for the periods required by tax law and the legislation on Alojamento Local. Once those periods have passed, it is deleted.
6. Who we share it with
We do not share data with third parties beyond what is strictly necessary:
- Booking engine — when you click ‘Book now’ you leave this website for the platform of our booking engine, where you make the booking and the payment. The data you enter there is processed by that platform under its own privacy policy, which you should read before booking.
- Public authorities — submission of the accommodation bulletin (boletim de alojamento), as Portuguese law requires of every Alojamento Local.
- Accounting and invoicing — only the data needed to meet tax obligations.
7. Cookies and external content
This website does not set cookies of its own and stores no information on your device, which is why it shows no cookie notice for our own content. There are, however, two parts of the page served by third parties:
- Google Maps — the maps on the home page and the contact page are loaded from Google. When you open the page, Google receives your IP address and may set cookies of its own, under Google's privacy policy.
- Google Fonts — the website's typefaces are loaded from Google's servers, which also receive your IP address with that request.
We have no control over what Google does with that information. The links to WhatsApp and to Google Maps take you away from this website, to services with policies of their own.
8. Your rights
With regard to any data we hold about you, you may at any time ask us for: access, rectification of anything that is wrong, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and to object to processing. Just write to oryzaguesthouse@gmail.com. We reply within the legal period of one month.
Some requests may not be possible while legal retention obligations last — invoicing documents, for example. In that case, we will explain why.
9. If you think we have got it wrong
You may lodge a complaint with the Portuguese supervisory authority:
Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD, the Portuguese data protection authority)
Av. D. Carlos I, 134, 1.º — 1200-651 Lisboa
geral@cnpd.pt · www.cnpd.pt
10. Changes to this policy
If we change anything on the website that alters how data is processed, we will update this page and the date shown at the top.
